well i have decided not to pay $1200.00 for a year of updates my time is running out in march that fee is too much for updates giving the ongoing problems with this scan tool i own several scan tools i feel that $1200.00 can go toward a new scan tool the more scan tools the better there are so many out there and these companies that make them better take notice that the higher they go on price for updates the worst off for them in the long term they need to work on these high price updates to be competitive i will check back from time to time to see if Autel lowers their price but i am not holding my breath

i agree there are so many of these diagnostic tools out there on the market i figure why not try other makes rather than investing in a tool that seems to have reached its full but limited potential

how does that stand up with say the Autoenginuity  is it as good or better i have that one it is pretty basic but at least they don't hold your feet to the fire on the updates and the price of updates is pretty reasonable

Yes I do agree $1200 is a lot off money they have to think about it...........I rather don't update it for a year or two and than buy new tool and get one year free updates.............its more cheaper that way than paying $1200 for one year updates........

i agree but also buy purchasing from another manufacture gives you the ability to test the waters elsewhere you might find a better tool that is why i have about 9 different ones

Seems to me the business model is a little strange when it comes to automotive scanner software updates and for that matter anything related to automotive software. I find it strange that I buy a hardware product that has software that can be buggy and is fixed with periodic updates to make it function correctly but am limited to only one year of this. I understand that they need to sell software updates to customers  for newer year vehicles. I would think if I bought a scanner in 2015 I should be entitled to any software tweak or enhancement for all years up to the year of my last software purchase. If Microsoft or Apple computers followed this business model they would be out of business. I am all for paying for additional years i.e. Adding 2017 cars or a new manufacturer but having to pay $1200 a year just to get the software I have to function at 100% is unreasonable. If anyone else agrees with me please say so below.
